Async Museum is an independent space dedicated to web-native art. Our mission is to discover artists who use the web as their practice, and recognize their work as a new aesthetic.

Hi, I’m Joohyun, founder of Async Museum.

My fascination with computational media began when I was introduced to creative coding in art school. Watching a few lines of code become a living, moving sketch in the browser, I was stunned. This was an open, dynamic medium that could turn code into responsive art and reach anyone, anywhere, instantly.

That perspective has driven my work ever since. But web-native art never had a dedicated space: it was too interactive for traditional galleries, too conceptual for commercial websites, and too inherently digital for physical installations.

So I built Async Museum.

Today, we’re shaping it alongside the artists pushing the web forward and the curious minds who come to experience their work.
